The First Question We Ask Our Clients

What are you looking for in a Medicare health plan?

Many people come to us needing more information, but they’re unsure where to get answers to their questions. We don’t want any of our customers to be in the dark when it comes to Medicare. We even offer a Medicare 101 informational course to answer all the common questions seniors have as they get closer to Medicare eligibility.

Some of the Most Common Questions
We Get About Medicare Are:

Medicare is a government funded health insurance program for Americans age 65 and older, those with specific disabilities, and those with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
If you’re 65 or older, a younger person who has disabilities, and you've paid into social security for a minimum of 40 quarters (or 10 years), you’re eligible.
There are many different situations, and it’s never a one-size-fits-all answer. That’s why getting help from a Medicare expert is so vital.

We help you to compare your employer benefits and premiums to Medicare to determine whether you should jump off your employer group plan or retirement plan.

Medicare has four parts that focus on specific aspects of medical coverage.

Part A: (hospital insurance)

This is part of original Medicare. It covers inpatient private hospital room and care (including meals), skilled nursing, blood transfusions, home health and hospice care.

Part B: (medical Insurance)

Also part of original Medicare, Part B covers many services that are medical necessities like outpatient medical services like lab work, surgery, ambulance transportation, physical and therapy, approved medical supplies and equipment, chemo and radiation, and mental health services. It also covers preventative care, and some limited outpatient prescription drugs.

Medicare Part C: (also called Medicare Advantage)

Part C is a type of managed care. How can you qualify for a Part C Medicare Advantage plan?

You’ll need to live in the service area for that plan and be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B.

Medicare Advantage Plans offer an option to get the benefits and services covered under Part A and Part B. Most Medicare Advantage Plan premiums start at $0. They offer extra benefits like dental, vision, and approved gym memberships.

Medicare Part D: (prescription drug benefits)

Medicare Part D is a prescription drug coverage that’s provided through private insurance companies.

It’s required by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) unless you have other creditable drug coverage like VA benefits, or a group plan.

Not everyone needs Medicare Part D, especially if they have other prescription coverage available, but it’s good for those who want to pick up prescriptions at their local pharmacy.

Premiums, deductibles, co-pays, and formularies vary based on the type of prescription.

Keep in mind, if you opt out of Part D coverage, and decide to add it on later, you could face a late penalty.

If you have a group plan or creditable coverage, you may be able to avoid penalties. Contact Greenview Advisors, LLC for more information.
